Itinerary
Day 01: Delhi to Shimla | Overnight Journey
- The group assembles at the pick-up point by 10:00 PM.
- We’ll meet the team captain, and a small tour briefing would also be conducted.
- After which, we’ll head out on an overnight journey to Shimla.
*The pickup point would be RK Ashram or Majnu Ka Tila (tentative).
Day 02: Shimla to Chitkul/Sangla (225 Kilometers, 9 Hours Drive)
- Early in the morning, we’ll arrive in Shimla via the Hindustan-Tibet highway.
- We’ll be changing our transportation from bus to Tempo Traveler at this point and will head out for Chitkul/Sangla.
- Upon reaching Chitkul/Sangla, we will check into our hotels where we will indulge in group bonding exercises.
- Dinner followed by overnight stay in Chitkul/Sangla.
Day 03: Chitkul/Sangla to Kalpa (50 Kilometers, 3 Hours Drive)
- After breakfast, we will head towards Kalpa which is known for its scenic landscapes. En route Kalpa, the small town of Reckong
- Peo town serves as the perfect pit stop. If the weather gods are in your favor, you will be able to catch a glimpse of Kinner Kailash Peak.
- Upon reaching Kalpa, after spending some leisure time, we’ll head out to visit the 3000-year-old Kalpa Monastery and the Suicide
- Point which offers a picturesque view of the Kailash ranges.
- Post-check in, Dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay in Kalpa.
Day 04: Kalpa to Nako (100 Kilometers, 5 Hours Drive)
- After having breakfast, we’ll continue our journey towards Nako, a tiny hamlet situated in the trans-Himalayan ranges.
- En route, we will make a pit stop at Khab, the site of the union between Sutlej and Spiti river.
- In Nako, we’ll visit the serene Nako lake and pay our reverences at the Nako Monastery.
- Dinner and overnight stay at Nako.
Day 05: Nako to Kaza (110 Kilometers, 5 Hours Drive)
- Post breakfast, we will head towards the headquarters of Spiti, Kaza.
- En route to Kaza, which serves as the connective link between the districts, we will find ourselves surrounded by many monasteries that we will make sure to visit.
- We will visit the more than thousand-year-old Tabo Monastery followed by the Dhankar Monastery.
- We’ll reach Kaza before evening and will check in to our designated accommodations. The rest of the day is at leisure, however, the travelers are free to explore the small town.
- Dinner and overnight stay at Kaza.
Day 06: Spiti Sightseeing Day (Komic, Hikkim, Langza)
- Post breakfast, we’ll head out to visit Key Monastery locally known as Kye Gompa, followed by Chicham Bridge which is Asia’s highest bridge.
- Later in the day, we will visit the highest post office in the world, Hikkim.
- After that, we’ll move towards Komic village which is one of the highest villages in the world connected by a motorable road.
- Last but not least, we will visit the land of fossils, Langza, and visit the Buddha statue that sits on top of a hill overlooking the village.
- Finally, we’ll head back to Kaza where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 07: Kaza to Kalpa (200 Kilometers, 7 Hours Drive)
- After breakfast, we will start our return journey to Kalpa.
- We will reach Kalpa by evening where we will have dinner followed by an overnight stay.
Day 08: Kalpa to Shimla (222 Kilometers, 8 Hours Drive) | Departure
- Resume our return journey after breakfast and head towards Shimla.
- Upon reaching Shimla, we will board an overnight bus towards Delhi.
Day 09: Delhi Arrival | Tour Ends
- We’ll reach Delhi early in the morning and the group will disperse with fond memories.
- End of Winter Spiti Road Trip.

How long does it take to get adapted to weather in Ladakh?
Taking rest for a day or two to get yourself acclimatized is a piece of advice that is always recommended. Also, it is always suggested to avoid any strenuous activity during your initial days.

Should I visit Leh Ladakh during winters?
For exploring the real beauty of Ladakh, it is advised to visit during winters. At the same time, as oxygen levels are low during winters, its generally not recommended to most of the people due to adaptability issues.
Are there any ATM’s in Leh Ladakh? Or Do I need to survive on cash?
Do note that cards are not accepted at major places like petrol pumps, restaurants, etc. And during your travel, only a few ATMs can be found at some places like Manali, Srinagar, which again aren’t a guarantee. It is recommended to carry at least ₹20,000 in hand to fill in as a bunker if needed.
